DIY Roof Patching

In this step by step guide we will show you the best way to apply the rubber in order to fix cracks, holes and seal joints in roof pannels and gutters. In this case our example is with an corigatted roofing sheets but this method is versitile and can be used on multiple different roofing substraights.

Supplies

When it comes to fixing roofs and gutters there are a few supplies you will find very helpful. Firstly of course rubber, geo fabric, and a brush and or roller to apply the product. Gloves will help keep your hands clean and make the prossess more simple.

Step One

The first step is to clean gutter or roof problem area so it is clean and dry ready for the waterproofing process. The best way to do this is to give it a light pressure clean with a small water blaster or high powered hose.

Step Two

Once the gutter or roof area is clean and dry it is time to apply the rubber. Coat over hole with Liquid Rubber wider than the geofabric width ensuring the rubber is applied a minimum of 3mm thick.

Step Three

At this point we will apply the geo fabric over the hole to provide strength and flexibility to the problem area. Lay out the geo fabric to measure the amount needed and cut to size. Then lay geofabric ensuring that you work it into the base layer of the Liquid Rubber.

Step Four

Once the geo fabric is applied and worked into the base layer of rubber apply a top coat of rubber to seal in the fabric.

Helpful tip:

Leave the brushes and roller (bend the arm slightly) in the rubber in the bucket with the lid closed and it wont dry out and you can just reuse the same brush
